VERSE 1:
ch]E[/ch
I dreamed I saw St. Augustine,
ch]A[/ch] [ch]E[/ch
Alive as you or me.
Tearing through these quarters,
ch]F#7[/ch] [ch]A[/ch
In the utmost misery.
ch]E[/ch
With a blanket underneath his arm,
ch]A[/ch
And a coat of solid gold.
ch]E[/ch] [ch]C#m[/ch
Searching for the very souls,
ch]A[/ch] [ch]E[/ch
Whom already have been sold.
VERSE 2:
ch]E[/ch
"Arise, arise", he cried so loud,
ch]A[/ch] [ch]E[/ch
With a voice without restraint.
"Come out ye gifted kings and queens,
ch]F#7[/ch] [ch]A[/ch
And hear my sad complaint.
ch]E[/ch
No martyr is among ye now,
ch]A[/ch
Whom you can call your own.
ch]E[/ch] [ch]C#m[/ch
So go on your way accordingly,
ch]A[/ch] [ch]E[/ch
But know you're not alone".

VERSE 3:
ch]E[/ch
I dreamed I saw St. Augustine,
ch]A[/ch] [ch]E[/ch
Alive with fiery breath.
And I dreamed I was amongst the ones,
ch]F#7[/ch] [ch]A[/ch
That put him out to death.
ch]E[/ch
Oh, I awoke in anger,
ch]A[/ch
So alone and terrified.
ch]E[/ch] [ch]C#m[/ch
I put my fingers against the glass,
ch]A[/ch] [ch]E[/ch
And bowed my head and cried.
